Twilight Rant

Thu Jun 25, 2009, 7:36 PM
  • Mood: Disbelief
  • Listening to: Wind's Nocturne
  • Playing: on Zan
  • Drinking: lemonade
Okay, I read all of the books months ago. However, I just finished reading someone else's old rant and it sparked a rant that I had before with a co-worker. I didn't mind the books too much as I kept in mind that they were written for prepubescent teens. Unfortunately I found Edward to be sort of creepy in a way. Seriously, watching someone while they sleep? Creepy. Stalkerish in nature. Not to mention all of the sexual tension without any real release actually got me pretty pissy. Even in the movie. It drove me nuts to the point people I lived with could here me shouting 'DO IT ALREADY!' I don't remember having that much sexual tension when I was 16. Else I would have likely been more motivated in losing my virginity. That said, I didn't find it believable that all she did was whine through every book to have Edward turn her into a vampire.
This was the real funny part in the rant with the co-worker. If you love your boyfriend (despite him being creepy) and he loved you (despite you being a whiny petulant indecisive pain in the butt), you have enough fireworks to start your own Chinese New Year festival, why in the world wouldn't you do something more proactive? You know he sneaks into your window. Start sleeping scantily clad or naked. Tease the ever living daylights out of him. Or, start dabbing blood like perfume on hot spots, then go to bed. Why in the world would you be prudish enough to change in the bathroom? Nope I would do it right then and there. He would go flying through the wall to get away. BUT I would make my point. Think about it? If you wanted something would you just whine about it every day or take matters into your own hand and keep seriously pushing?
Then don't get me on the last book which read like a poorly written fan-fic. It was hard to read. Really hard to read. I felt like I was sloshing through the swamps in the Neverending story, with my horse already sunk to the bottom. I read it though just so I would know how it ended. A work up only to end in...nothing. I wanted to set fire to the book. Not even one punch. Not one. Of course Bella the oh so powerful, oh so wonderful, oh so beautiful, was all that was needed to save the day. Let's all go prance in a field of white flowers while the sun shines forever on our perfectly sparkly diamond skin! GAG!
I've read better cheap romance novels. So much potential...that didn't go anywhere. I'll still watch the movies, because I am sick and fascinated. I will occasionally rant. In the end it's still better than the downward spiraled to hell Anita Blake slut supreme porno books. Seriously? Being able to do five men at once = love? Pfft, the succubi are creatures of love, not lust.

Getting people to do what you want is simply a matter of telling them what they want to hear

You have splendid work!
How did you learn so to draw long? :]

I can't good speak in English. Shows it xD
Studied lots and lots. I've never been worth the attention of any art teachers, so I had to teach myself. I followed artists I found to be talented, breaking apart their art to figure out how they did it. Lots of practice. I devoured art books and life drawing books to learn musculature. The hardest thing I've had to learn is color and lighting. I've taken to looking at reference pictures and breaking apart how lighting works. Trial and error though is pretty much my basis.
